London has long been renowned for its place in cocktail-making history — from The Savoy’s Hanky Panky to Dick Bradsell’s famous Espresso Martini, legendary drinks have been created in the city’s bars for over a hundred years. London Cocktail Tours offers a way to experience that history in person, led by one of the city’s most experienced drinks writers.
Award-winning drinks podcaster and writer, Susan L. Schwartz knows London’s cocktail scene inside out. Founder of the award-winning drinks blog, A Lush Life Manual, Susan also hosts Lush Life Podcast, where she interviews movers and shakers in the drinks industry and has written for Grazia, The Tonic Magazine, Ritz Magazine, Mail on Sunday and Condé Nast Traveller. She is also the author of A Guide to Drinking in Venice.
What the Tour Covers
London Cocktail Tours is a guided evening through four of Soho’s cocktail bars – a mix of established and newer venues, each one part of the story of the cocktail in London. As the group walks between stops, Susan also points out other historic and current cocktail spots along the way, sharing the stories behind them, though these aren’t included as tour stops.
At each of the four bars, guests enjoy cocktails selected by Susan and the bartenders, made for the group, along with small plates of food chosen to complement it. Bartenders share insight into their signature styles and techniques as the drinks are made.
